Kid At Heart

Collecting women action figures started by accident when I first travelled to the United States of America in 2001. I went to 'Toys R Us' and saw the Michelle Yeoh (Lu Shu Yien) character in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." By impulse, I bought it and the rest is history.

Bunty of Chicken Run! Saw this on sale at a toy store in SM Fairview for P200!

I started collecting these toys based on the women I saw in the movies. No TV character for me :) So for those who want to "gift" me with a toy: WOMEN MOVIE ACTION FIGURE ONLY!

The Incredibles family is a gift from my New Jersey-based cousin.

My fave toys are Lu Shu Bien (the rubberized outfit has slowly disintegrated), Trinity of Matrix and The Bride from "Kill Bill." The only boxes I opened are Lu Shu and Trinity, both are in my condo, for my eyes to see only, hehe.

This is a Barbie Catwoman from a garage sale from Canada. My mom gets me these second-hand toys even if I do not need it. I guess its the excitement of finding something "valuable" in a cheaper way. Spending $5 is way better than the $30 toy I requested. My biggest regret is I saw a Catwoman collector's item at Fully Booked, had second thoughts on buying it. When I realized I really want it, it was gone on my next visit :(

Another Catwoman, not the version I saw at Fully Booked.

Lucy of The Chronicles of Narnia courtesy of my cousin from Canada

I have not opened these boxes, dunno why. Maybe, in the future, when I have my kids, we will play with them together. I just hope the plastic/rubber does not disintegrate soon LOL.

Look, Wonder Woman is in shorts!

Marge, Betty Bop and Olive Oil are the newest members of my Toy family. Got them during my trip to Universal Studios and Disneyland last December 2007. And of course, since we are in the movies, our good friend Oscar has to be there!

This robot is impulse buying...found it cute even if it is a "he." Exception to the rule :)

eye, my toys---the bride, bunty, trinity, michelle yeoh in "crouching" are really look-alike w/ the screen version when you see them up close. i just like the creative adventure of these toys---from a story idea, we get to see them on the big screen and now, we can touch these action figures and "play" with them. in my case, i just love looking at them! alam mo na christmas gift wish ko, bwahaha :)

Ok ah! Are they on display or in storage?

hi kng, when they were on the "infant" stage (konti pa lang sila), i used to put them on my working room to "inspire" me when writing but nung dumami na sila, i had to put them on a storage---hoping that someday i'll have the time to display them on a cleaner and bigger space. you see aside from my toys, my film books and dvds are "messing" up my work room. i really have to clean them up! when i travel, my greatest satisfaction is getting toys, film books and dvds in every place i visit :)

awesome collection. Mine is not as grand as yours, I get refrigerator magnets as souvenirs for my travels.

hi meg, collecting these toys are just for fun---sort of a reminder of the movies i've seen. it has grown over time by accident and i have such generous friends/cousins who "supply" me with these gifts for free! a friend suggested that i get a GI Joe Nurse doll made during the 1960s, a mint collectible worth $2,000. even if i have the money for it (in my dreams!), i'm not interested bec i'm not a fan of GI Joe. these are just for me to reminisce the movie scenes. like your magnets, it serves like a trip down memory lane. my sisters and i also make it a point to get magnet souvenirs from our trips :)
another collection is coke bottles/cans from all over the world but won't show it na here hehe...

hey ms. shy girl, what an interesting collection you have! supergirl is my favorite =) may i ask what else you would like to add to your collection?

Twin said...

jepayuki, i'm not really a "collector," i don't aim for the next big toy, kung may nakita akong gusto ko, then i get it. dumami lang yan kasi nga when people close to me asks me my wish list, i give in...haha
